In early 2008, BusinessWeek news magazine reported that some public bank customers received letters from the lender stating that it would double their credit card interest rate to as high as 28%. There was no explanation from the lender for the increase to these credit worthy cardholders, the card holders had not been behind on payments, over limit or have declining credit scores.
