Frequently Asked Questions about Mobile Wallets

How do Mobile Wallets work?

Which NRLFCU cards can I use with Apple, Samsung, Android Pay, Microsoft Wallet and Visa Checkout?

  • NRLFCU Visa® Check Cards, Visa Gold Credit Cards, and Visa Platinum Credit Cards are all eligible for these mobile wallets.

What if my phone is lost or stolen?

  • Immediately notify us by calling 301.839.8400 or 800.526.6661 and also your phone carrier. We will stop access to your cards through the use of the mobile wallet.  Since your card numbers are not stored on the device, we can place a hold on the wallet without impacting your NRLFCU credit or debit card.  Your current card(s) will not need to be replaced.

Are my debit and credit card numbers passed on to the merchant?

  • No, your card numbers are not stored in your phone and they are not passed to the merchant when using Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Android Pay, Microsoft Wallet, or Visa Checkout.  Only a device or token number is used with the merchant, which helps reduce the potential for fraud.

What if my debit or credit card is lost or stolen?

  • If your NRLFCU debit or credit card is lost or stolen, please notify us immediately at 301.839.8400 or 800.526.6661. We will cancel your card and issue you a new card. Once you activate your new card, you will need to enroll your new card in the digital wallet of your choice.

Can I enroll more than one NRLFCU credit or debit card?

  • Yes, you can enroll more than one NRLFCU credit and/or debit card, however, some wallets have a limit to how many cards you can enroll.  You will be prompted to authenticate each new card you enroll, and may contact the phone number provided in-app for any assistance with authenticating.

Can I make transactions in all countries with my Apple PayTM, Samsung PayTM, Android PayTM, Microsoft Wallet or Visa Checkout?

  • You may use the NRLFCU cards in your mobile wallet in any non-sanctioned country where your mobile wallet is accepted, and for any transaction that is not illegal under applicable federal, state, or local law. Regular transaction fees apply.

I’ve heard that the Anniversary Update is out, so why don’t I see the Microsoft Wallet app on my phone?

  • The Anniversary update will begin to roll-out to customers on August 2, but it may take about a week before it reaches your phone. If you don’t have the updated Microsoft Wallet app on your phone yet, be sure to check:

    • That you have the Anniversary update installed (Win10 OS build 10.0.14383.0 or higher)

If I have the Microsoft Wallet app, why don’t I see the option to add my credit or debit card?

  • You may still have the previous version of the Microsoft Wallet app that does not have a tab for Payments. Be sure that you have the latest version of the Microsoft Wallet app, build 2.0.16195. You can find this information in Microsoft Wallet app About.
