NRL Federal Credit Union offers an extensive benefits plan to accommodate the needs of its employees.
Medical Insurance - NRLFCU offers this benefit through CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield. Employees are given the option to choose between an HMO and PPO medical plan. The plans offer comprehensive health care through a viable network of participating doctors with a co-pay, prescription coverage and limited deductibles. Eligibility for coverage begins the first day of the month following the date of employment. The Credit Union pays a substantial majority of the cost for full-time employees and their families.
Dental Insurance - This benefit is also provided through CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield. The Dental plan is a PPO plan so employees are allowed to choose any dentist for comprehensive preventative and routine coverage.
Vision Insurance - Vision Service Plan (VSP) is the vision coverage provider. This convenient benefit requires no paperwork and has low co-pays.
Disability coverage – This coverage is provided to full-time employees at no cost to ensure that if you become disabled and are unable to work as a result of an accident or illness while employed by NRL Federal Credit Union that you will have an income while you are recuperating. Short-term disability is offered after the employee has been disabled for a period of 7 days and will pay up to 66 2/3% of the employee’s salary. Employees are eligible for long-term coverage after a 90 day elimination period and pays up to 66 2/3% of the employee’s salary.
Life Insurance - The Credit Union gives full-time employees life insurance valued at three times their annual salary up to $200,000. This coverage is provided through Lincoln Life Insurance Company.
Retirement Benefits - Employees are eligible to participate in the 401K retirement program after six months of employment during open enrollment: January, April, July, and October. At that time you will be automatically enrolled and set up to contribute 5% however, you may contribute up to 100% of your salary (Up to IRS maximum). NRL Federal Credit Union will match your contributions up to 5 percent after six months of employment. Mass Mutual administers the 401K plans at NRLFCU. They offer a vast portfolio of funds for employees to make choices that suit their personal needs and goals.
Flexible Spending Accounts - Medical Reimbursement and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts are available for employees. In these accounts, you are able to put aside a portion of your salary on a pre-tax basis to pay for certain medical, dental and other health care expenses (i.e. office co-pays, prescriptions, deductibles) not covered by insurance as well as dependent care expenses.
Holidays - Employees are paid for 10 holidays to include New Year´s Day, Martin Luther King´s Birthday, Washington´s Birthday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Thanksgiving Day, The Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Day.
Personal Time Off - Employees begin earning Personal Time Off (PTO) the day employment begins. However, employees are not permitted to use any accumulated leave during your 90-day introductory period. Full time employees earn 5 hours per pay period the first 5 years, 6 hours after 5 years, 8 hours after 10 years. All Part-time employees hired after October 1, 2012 do not receive PTO.
Bereavement - Employees are provided with 3 to 5 days, depending on the circumstances, of administrative leave for death of an immediate family member.
Jury Duty - Employees are paid their regular salary when fulfilling a request for jury duty.
