Why?

Financial companies choose how they share your personal information. Federal law gives consumers the right to limit some but not all sharing. Federal law also requires us to tell you how we collect, share, and protect your personal information. Please read this notice carefully to understand what we do.

What?

The types of personal information we collect and share depend on the product or service you have with us. This information can include:

  • Credit history and credit scores

When you are no longer our customer, we continue to share your information as described in this notice.

All financial companies need to share members' personal information to run their everyday business. How does NRL Federal Credit Union protect my personal information? To protect your personal information from unauthorized access and use, we use security measures that comply with federal law. These measures include computer safeguards and secured files and buildings.
How does NRL Federal credit Union collect my personal information? We collect your personal information, for example, when you
  • Open a new account or use your debit or ATM card
  • Apply for a loan or make a wire transfer
  • Show your driver's license or conduct any transaction
Why can't I limit all sharing? Federal law gives you the right to limit only
  • sharing for affiliates' everyday business purposes - information about your creditworthiness
  • affiliates from using your information to market to you

Definitions:
Affiliates: Companies related by common ownership and control. They can be financial and nonfinancial companies.
  • NRLFCU has no affiliates
Nonaffiliates: Companies not related by common ownership or control. They can be financial and nonfinancial companies.
  • NRLFCU does not share information with non-affiliates
Joint Marketing: A formal agreement between nonaffiliated financial companies that together market financial products or services to you.
  • NRLFCU does not participate in joint marketing

Internet

NRL Federal Credit Union maintains this Internet web site as a service to the credit union membership. NRLFCU will use reasonable efforts to include accurate and up-to-date information, but makes no warranties or representations as to its accuracy or completeness.

NRLFCU takes care to respect the privacy of its on-line visitors. Information that can identify an on-line visitor is collected at http://www.nrlfcu.org/, Online Access and our Online Credit Card site only when voluntarily offered by the visitor. We may, from time to time, collect non-personal information from on-line visitors to the sites in aggregate form and identify the type of Internet browser (e.g. Netscape, Internet Explorer) and operating system (e.g. Windows 95, Macintosh, etc. ) used by the visitor. This information allows us to improve our site, collect statistics on which site services are used and count the number of visitors to our site pages.

Information that can identify a visitor, such as name or address is collected when volunteered by the site visitor on the My NRLFCU, guest registration, information request, applications, comment forms and other forms. NRLFCU does not use, sell or disclose any information collected for any purpose that does not directly relate to the normal conduct of member and credit union business.

 
Encryption

NRLFCU uses high level encryption during your visits to Online Access. This is provided by the browser you select. We require you to obtain and use a browser from Netscape or Microsoft that supports 128-bit "domestic" (U.S. grade) encryption.

If you used a 40-bit encrypted browser, there are more than 1,000,000,000,000 possible keys, with a 128-bit browser there are 2 to the 88th power times as many key combinations.

NRLFCU provides access to other web sites through links. NRLFCU takes no responsibility for the availability of these sites or for the information content located on any site domain other than nrlfcu.org.

Cookies

If your browser supports "cookies," an Internet security feature, you need to allow these cookies to be set. If your browser is configured NOT to accept cookies, it must be reset to allow them before you may access your account information. Cookies from Online Access are necessary to establish a secure connection between your personal computer and our Internet server. When sensitive information is included in the cookie, the cookie is encrypted. These cookies are only stored in your personal computer for this session and expire as soon as you exit.

Security

Our secure web site has been CyberTrust Certified and incorporates data encryption to ensure transaction security and privacy. As an additional security measure, we use an Internet Server as a firewall to prevent unauthorized access to our site. Site personnel monitor activity logs at regular intervals to look for unauthorized intrusions.

Passwords (PIN)

While NRLFCU takes great care to protect your information and keep it secure, you are responsible for securing your credit union information on your personal computer. You should choose a good password that you can remember without writing down. Change it regularly. Never tell anyone your password. Employees of NRLFCU never need to know your password to assist you.

Remember to Sign Off

It is important to sign off when you finish your business. Use the EXIT button to leave your account, then EXIT a second time to leave the Online Access server. If you forget to do so, NRLFCU automatically signs you off after 18 minutes. Once logged out, no one can press the "back" key in the web browser to view account information.
